Jennings Opticians has been part of the Wythenshawe community since 1936 — making us one of the most established independent opticians in Greater Manchester.
We've seen fashions come and go, technology transform the way we examine eyes, and generation after generation of local families pass through our door. What hasn't changed is our commitment to giving every patient the time, attention and expertise they deserve.

90 Years of Eyecare
1936
Jennings Opticians founded in Wythenshawe, Manchester.
1948
NHS established — Jennings becomes an approved NHS optical practice from day one.
1980s
Contact lenses become widely available — we begin fitting patients with soft lenses.
2000s
Digital retinal photography introduced, allowing more detailed eye health monitoring.
2010s
OCT scanning added — giving cross-section images of the retina for earlier disease detection.
